Jorgen Strand Larsen believes "it was important to take a step forward" after a difficult finish to his career at Wolves.

The 26-year-old striker initially joined Wolves on loan from Celta Vigo for the 2024-25 season before making the move permanent the following summer.

He scored 14 goals and provided four assists in his debut Premier League campaign, though found the back of the net just once in 22 league games for Wolves in 2025-26.

And despite scoring a hat-trick in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town, Strand Larsen could not help turn Wolves' fortunes around before joining Crystal Palace at the end of the winter transfer window.

Since joining the Eagles, the Norwegian forward has scored three goals in six Premier League games, while also providing an assist in the Conference League as Palace seek European glory this term.

Strand Larsen revealed he was desperate to help Wolves in the relegation battle, but months of disappointment started to take its toll.

"It had been six months that had been completely hopeless. It had been very tough mentally, physically and in every way possible," Strand Larsen told VG Sporten.

"I didn’t want it to end that way at Wolves, because it’s a fantastic club that I care about.

"I hoped things would change, but for me it was important to take a step forward.

"When you have zero wins after half a season, there is of course a lot of pressure from outside.

"We footballers also put a lot of pressure on ourselves. We have high expectations and everyone wants to take new steps and be ‘the main man’. Especially me who didn’t quite get it. So, it was tough, but that’s in the past now."

Wolves are 13 points off safety with eight games to go, while Palace are seven off the European places with a game in hand.
