Sinner happy to get extra rest before Wimbledon after shock Halle exit
Jannik Sinner was optimistic following his second-round defeat at the Halle Open to Alexander Bublik.
The Kazakh beat the world number one 3-6 6-3 6-4 in Germany, dealing Sinner his first defeat to a player other than Carlos Alcaraz since August 2024.
It also ended a 66-match winning streak for Sinner against opponents ranked outside the ATP's top 20.
Despite the early exit, Sinner was feeling positive about the extra break ahead of Wimbledon later this month.
"I have to accept what happened. I'm now going to have a few days' rest before Wimbledon, which are going to do me good," Sinner told Sky Italia.
"Honestly, a little break is going to do me good. I came here [to Halle], I gave it my all after the Roland-Garros defeat. It wasn't easy.
"Despite everything, I'm happy enough.
"I've played two matches before Wimbledon. If there'd been more, it would have been even better.
"Now I've got to boost myself both mentally and physically, that takes a little time [but for Wimbledon] everything will be fine."

Wimbledon begins on June 30, with Sinner looking to win his first title at All England Club.
