Jannik Sinner continues to find form during his Wimbledon title defence, overcoming Jenson Brooksby in straight sets to reach the fourth round.

Sinner still struggled at times but prevailed 6-4 6-3 6-4 win in two hours and 13 minutes in the London heat.

Brooksby made a strong start on serve but failed to hold onto it in the seventh game as Sinner converted his second break point.

The world number one clinched the first set with a love-hold, but then missed the chance to start the second with a break, as Brooksby held off two attempts in the first game.

Sinner fended off three break points himself shortly after, before reeling off four straight games to put the round of 16 in sight. But the American attempted a fightback in the third set, opening with a break, though it was immediately cancelled out by Sinner.

After Sinner gave himself the chance to serve for the match at 5-4, Brooksby kept himself in the match before defending two match points on his own serve, but he could not hold the Italian off a third time.

Sinner will face Japanese qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki in the next round, where he will also be joined by Jan-Lennard Struff.

He upset two-time finalist Daniil Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) 7-5, with the former world number one now failing to advance beyond the fourth round in his past seven majors.

Sinner a mainstay in second week of slams

Sinner is the youngest player to reach the second week in five or more consecutive seasons in men's singles at Wimbledon since Pete Sampras (1992-1996).

His run to the title last year was the first time he had reached the final in that run, and he will be determined to make sure he gets his hands on the trophy for a second time.

Sinner is also the player with the most round of 32 matches played in men's singles grand slam events in the Open Era without ever losing (20-0).

Meanwhile, only Wayne Arthurs in Wimbledon 1999 (seven) has won more tie-breaks than Struff (six in Wimbledon 2026) in the first three rounds of a major in the Open Era. The German could face Sinner in the quarter-finals.
