Scott set for surgery as Iraola slams 'violent' Mings challenge
Bournemouth confirmed Alex Scott will undergo surgery on his fractured jaw, as Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola slammed Tyrone Mings' "violent" challenge on the midfielder.
Scott required lengthy treatment after he was caught by Mings' elbow during the early stages of Bournemouth's 1-0 defeat by Champions League-chasing Aston Villa on Saturday.
The 21-year-old, who was making just his eighth start in the Premier League this season, was then substituted at half-time after being unable to continue, with scans revealing a displaced fracture in his jaw.
Scott requires surgery and will miss Bournemouth's final two games of the season, with the Cherries in 10th place and desperately trying to keep their European hopes alive.
We can confirm that Alex Scott will undergo surgery after sustaining a fractured jaw during yesterday's game with Aston Villa.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery, Alex
Iraola was left far from impressed after Mings avoided any disciplinary action for the challenge.
"Tyrone Mings knows what he is doing, he knew where Alex was. It was very violent," the Cherries boss told BBC Sport. "He sees Alex coming and, for me, it is very dangerous.
"He was almost knocked out. After the elbow, we didn't know if he could continue. He wanted to continue, but he was not 100%. It [was] a very violent elbow."
