Danny Rohl insists Rangers must win a trophy this season as they prepare to host rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-final.

Rangers faced little struggle on their way to the last eight of the competition, following up a 5-0 win over Annan Athletic with an 8-0 victory over Queen's Park.

The Scottish Cup is one of two possible trophies Rangers could win this term, along with the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are currently six points off league leaders Hearts in third following their 2-2 draw with Celtic, who are in second, last weekend.

Rangers have drawn three of their last four league games (W1), and Rohl believes Sunday's Old Firm derby could provide some momentum in their hunt for silverware.

"As Rangers manager you have to," the German said when asked if he feels he has to win a trophy this term.

"As a club you have to. With these ambitions, we have to.

"This is part of the job. I think we noticed the last two results, two draws [against Livingston and Celtic], was for me unnecessary when I compared the results with the performance.

"And we have a great opportunity on Sunday to make a good step towards the first trophy."

Celtic progressed to the quarter-finals in dramatic fashion, defeating Dundee FC 2-1 after extra time.

Junior Adamu equalised with the last kick of normal time for Martin O'Neill's side before Sebastian Tounekti scored the winner two minutes into extra time.

Celtic winger James Forrest is relishing another trip to Ibrox, where they are hopeful of upsetting the home fans.

"Obviously, it's two games against Rangers at Ibrox and these are the games that all the boys and the fans want," said Forrest.

"It's a chance to get to Hampden and to the semi-final, and that’s the focus. Everyone in the changing room will be giving their all on Sunday.

"It'll be great for the cup tie and it'll be great for us as well. Our fans last Sunday were really good even with the small allocation."
