Misa Rodriguez has become Arsenal's seventh summer signing after joining on a free transfer from Real Madrid.

Rodriguez's length of contract was not revealed by Arsenal, but she joins to provide competition for Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe in between the sticks.

The 27-year-old made 215 appearances for Madrid across all competitions, more than any other player, and she was made captain for the 2025-26 campaign.

She appeared 19 times in Liga F last season and kept a division-high 14 clean sheets as Madrid finished second and 15 points behind champions Barcelona.

At international level, Rodriguez made her senior Spain debut in 2021 and has gone on to earn 24 caps, winning the World Cup and Nations League.

"I'm so proud to join this great club," Rodriguez told Arsenal's club website.

"Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world, and I'm really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge.

"I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters."

Rodriguez's addition further bolsters Arsenal's stern defensive rearguard, with the Gunners conceding the fewest goals (14) in the WSL last season.

"Misa is a top goalkeeper who has performed consistently at a high level for several years," Arsenal boss Renee Slegers said of her new signing.

"As well as her technical attributes, she has great presence and communication on the pitch, and we believe she'll be a strong addition to our goalkeeping unit."

Van Domselaar and Borbe both struggled with injuries last year, and Rodriguez is Arsenal's second goalkeeping signing this summer after Isabella Damm.

Arsenal have also completed deals for Georgia Stanway, Geraldine Reuteler, Selina Cerci, Ona Batlle and Lisa Baum.
