Julius Randle is staying in Minnesota.

Randle plans to sign a three-year, $100million contract with the Timberwolves, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

The deal, which was reported on Sunday, includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.

Randle, who turns 31 in November, had a $30.9million player option for the 2025-26 season and could have been an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Considered one of the top forwards in the free agent market, Randle will now return to the Timberwolves after helping the team reach the Western Conference finals in his first season in Minnesota.

Randle's return to Minnesota comes just two days after the Timberwolves agreed to bring back Naz Reid on a five-year, $125 million contract extension with a player option.

Minnesota acquired Randle three weeks before the start of the 2024-25 season, and he averaged 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and a team-high 4.7 assists in 69 regular-season games. In the play-offs, the power forward averaged 21.7 points on 50.2 per cent shooting after shooting 48.5 per cent during the regular season.

Drafted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2014, Randle spent the previous five seasons with New York, where he was named an All-Star three times and was twice named an All-NBA selection.

In 11 NBA seasons, Randle has career averages of 19.0 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
