Rain drowns KKR's play-off hopes as RCB move top after washout
The Indian Premier League was set to resume on Saturday with a repeat of the season's opening fixture, but rain played spoilsport in the end as the match was abandoned without a ball bowled.
As a result, both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders were awarded a point each, confirming KKR's elimination from the tournament.
The defending champions have had a season to forget, winning just five of their 13 matches, with two washouts, including Saturday's fixture.
They currently sit in sixth place and join Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad as teams to officially be out of the running for a top-four finish.
Match 58 between @RCBTweets and @KKRiders has been called off due to rain.

RCB, meanwhile, had been the form team of the IPL prior to the break and would have been keen to treat their fans to a strong display, though they will now have to wait until next week to properly return to action.
Despite the washout, the hosts took a crucial step towards securing their play-off spot, moving to the top of the table with 17 points from their 13 games.
The Chinnaswamy was also home to a touching tribute from the RCB fans, many of whom turned up in white jerseys to honour India stalwart Virat Kohli's recent retirement from test cricket.
The Royal Challengers will next host the Sunrisers on Friday, while KKR will face them next weekend.
