Emma Raducanu managed to shake off a slow start to win her first-round match against Ann Li at Eastbourne.

The British number one lost the first set but came back to complete a 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 6-1 win in two hours and 21 minutes.

Li raced into a 3-0 lead in the first set after breaking Raducanu’s serve at the first time of asking, but the Brit responded quickly to break back.

Raducanu was in a strong position in the tiebreaker after going 5-3 up, but Li won four points in a row to take the first set.

However, 22-year-old Raducanu stepped things up in the second, breaking Li’s serve three times on her way to levelling the match.

Her domination continued in the third set, once again winning on her opponent’s serve on three occasions before securing victory with her fourth match point.

"It feels incredible. I want to thank the crowd for getting me through some really sticky moments,” Raducanu said after her win.

"It really meant a lot to me and I'm really proud of how I fought back after losing the first set. I'm very, very happy to come through that today.

"It was tough, it was up and down, but from the middle of the second set I think I found another gear and another level."

Raducanu will now face 19-year-old Australian Maya Joint in the next round, after she beat Ons Jabeur 7-5 6-2.
