Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green believes his punch on Jusuf Nurkic in the 2023-24 season cost him a third gold medal with Team USA at the Olympics.

Green has previously won gold in 2016 and 2021, but was left out of the roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics as Stephen Curry’s heroics led the USA to a thrilling victory in the final over France.

The forward has spent his entire career with the Warriors, featuring in 901 regular season games and winning four NBA championships with the franchise.

Throughout his regular season career, which began in 2012-12, Green averages 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Green has been involved in a few bust-ups during his NBA career, also punching former team-mate Jordan Poole during practice, but he then caught now Utah Jazz center Nurkic in the face in a game.

Although no reason was given for Green’s exclusion from the 2024 roster, he thinks it was due to his punch on Nurkic.

“I'm not someone who lives with regrets — that's not really how I roll,” said the 35-year-old on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show.

“So I don't know if that's the right word — but I think one moment I really look back on is the one with Jusuf Nurkic, because I actually think that moment cost me an opportunity to win a third gold medal. I look back at that one and I'm like, ‘man, that sucks’.”
