Huw Jones went over for two tries as the British and Irish Lions beat New South Wales Waratahs 21-10 on Saturday.

While the Lions were not at their best, Andy Farrell's team managed to labour to a third straight win.

Jones made his mark as he pushes for a place in the team for the upcoming Tests against Australia, the first of which takes place on July 19.

He scored both of his tries in the first half, with Fin Smith on point with the boot to put the Lions into a 14-0 lead.

Darby Lancaster dragged the understrength Waratahs back into it before half-time, with Ethan Dobbins then going over just after the restart.

The error-strewn Lions managed to get back in front through an impressive Alex Mitchell try, and Smith was again successful with his conversion.

Missing Henry Pollock, who withdrew due to a tight calf, the Lions could not add to their tally, but Farrell can at least take solace in keeping their winning run going.

Data Debrief: Sub-par Lions get the job done

It was a far from vintage display in Sydney, but the Lions were still the better side, making 489 metres to the Waratahs' 207 and 13 clean breaks compared to the hosts' four.

The turnovers count, though, will not please Farrell, with the Lions conceding 10.  The Waratahs only conceded five.

Indeed, the tourists also gave away 13 penalties, and they will not be able to afford to be so sloppy against Australia later this month.
