Lando Norris fended off McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri to win a dramatic Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Red Bull's home race did not go according to plan, as reigning Formula One world champion Max Verstappen crashed out on the first lap.

While Verstappen fumed at Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli, who caused the collision, the McLarens set about pushing for victory in a pulsating race.

Piastri, who still holds the championship lead, briefly surpassed his team-mate on the 11th lap, but Norris swiftly hit back.

After Norris and Piastri pitted in the 52nd and 53rd laps respectively, McLaren allowed their two drivers to race for the remainder.

Piastri was almost wiped out by Franco Colaptino, while Norris was fortunate not to be clipped by Fernando Alonso on the final lap.

Yet Norris, two weeks on from crashing into Piastri and out of the race at the Canadian Grand Prix, held on to claim a potentially vital victory in the title tussle.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium, with Lewis Hamilton claiming a morale-boosting fourth-place finish.

George Russell placed fifth, as former Red Bull driver Liam Lawson came sixth ahead of Alonso, who held off a driver he manages in the form of Gabriel Bortoleto.

Red Bull's miserable day was capped off by Yuki Tsunoda placing last out of the 16 drivers who finished, with Williams pair Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz also failing to complete the race, the latter never getting going as his car caught fire at the end of the formation lap.

Data Debrief: Magic for McLaren

The Canadian Grand Prix saw McLaren fail to have a driver on the podium for the first time this season, but they hit back with a fine one-two.

McLaren have now achieved 53 one-two finishes in F1, four of them in 2025. It is the first time the team have had four one-twos in a single season since 2007.

It was a dismal day for Red Bull on home turf, though. Tsunoda would have been hoping to shine in Verstappen's absence, yet he has now gone 98 races without a single podium finish.

The Japanese has equalled Pedro Diniz as the driver with the fifth-most races without once finishing in the top three.
