Medvedev kicks off 2026 with Brisbane triumph
Daniil Medvedev got 2026 up and running in style as he claimed just his second title since the end of 2023 by beating Brandon Nakashima at the Brisbane International.
Medvedev won just one ATP Tour-level trophy across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, but he has already matched that tally at the first time of asking this year.
He prevailed 6-2 7-6 (7-1) over Nakashima on Sunday, winning the Brisbane title at the second time of asking, having lost in the final in 2019.
Alexander Bublik, meanwhile, claimed his fifth title in the space of seven months as he defeated Lorenzo Musetti in Hong Kong.
Bublik triumphed 7-6 (7-2) 6-3, with Musetti having now lost seven consecutive finals.
"The only goal for this season was to achieve [a] top 10 [ranking] and in the first week I have won the title and I am into the top 10," Bublik said. "If you had told me that last April I would never have believed you. But it is a pleasure and I hope to continue in the same way."

Data Debrief: Medvedev's world tour
Medvedev has now collected 22 Tour-level titles, and remarkably, none of those wins have come at the same event, meaning he has prevailed in 22 different cities across the globe.
The 29-year-old is the third active player to win 20 hard-court trophies, after Novak Djokovic (72) and Jannik Sinner (21).
