Women's Super League leaders Manchester City have agreed a new two-year contract extension with centre-back Rebecca Knaak.

Knaak signed a one-and-a-half-year contract when she joined from Rosengard in January and has made 16 appearances for City thus far.

The 29-year-old has scored five goals for the club, with three of those coming against local rivals Manchester United, and her strong end to 2024-25 saw her earn international recognition.

Having made her senior debut for Germany in February, she has now won 11 caps, helping her country reach the semi-finals at Euro 2025 before losing to Spain in extra time.

Knaak has only made three WSL appearances this season after Andree Jeglertz took over as head coach in July, but she has now committed her future to City until 2028.

Speaking to the club's website, Knaak said: "I'm really happy to stay here.

"It's the club I love and the club I want to be successful at, and I'm really happy to be here for another two years.

"Personally, I have so much unfinished business to be done, and I love this football club. It feels like home to me now, and I feel this is where I belong and I'm meant to be."

City host Aston Villa in their next WSL match on Sunday, with nine wins from 10 games so far this campaign putting them six points clear of defending champions Chelsea.
