Leicester deducted six points for breaching financial rules
Leicester City have been deducted six points in the Championship by the English Football League due to breaching financial rules.
The investigation, which was initially started by the Premier League before being passed on to the EFL, comes after a profit and sustainability (PSR) breach in the three years up to the 2023-24 campaign.
The deduction will be applied immediately, meaning Leicester have dropped from 17th to 20th, and only sit above the relegation zone on goal difference.
The Foxes, who are winless in their last four league games (D1 L3), are also without a permanent manager after they sacked Marti Cifuentes in January.
It is with disappointment that Leicester City acknowledges today’s Independent Commission decision and the Club will use the time available to consider its next steps.

The club released a statement that read: "While the commission's findings significantly reduced the unprecedented scale of the sanction originally sought by the Premier League, the recommendation remains disproportionate and does not adequately reflect the mitigating factors presented, the importance of which cannot be overstated given the potential impact on our sporting ambitions this season.
"We are now reviewing the decision in full and considering the options available to us.
"We remain committed to engaging constructively and ensuring that any action is fair, proportionate and determined through the appropriate processes."
