Leeds sign towering centre-back Bornauw as Firpo departs
Leeds United have completed a deal to sign centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg, having announced the departure of Junior Firpo earlier on Tuesday.
Bornauw becomes Leeds' third signing since capturing the Championship title in May, and the second to arrive from Wolfsburg.
Fellow centre-back Jaka Bijol arrived from Udinese for a reported fee of £15m, while Lukas Nmecha joined on a free transfer after the expiration of his deal with Wolfsburg.
Six-foot-three Bornauw has penned a four-year contract at Elland Road, with the newly promoted club set to pay around £5.1m for the 26-year-old.
Daniel Farke's side begin their Premier League campaign at home to Everton on August 18, before travelling to Arsenal and hosting Newcastle United before the end of the month.
Earlier on Tuesday, Leeds confirmed left-back Firpo had left the club upon the expiration of his contract, four years after his arrival from Barcelona.
Firpo made a total of 119 appearances for Leeds, including 32 in the Championship last season as Farke's team beat Burnley to the title.
His 10 assists were more than any other defender registered in the second tier, while he also contributed to 10 clean sheets.
