Kerr 'relieved' over Curry's quad injury as pressure mounts on misfiring Warriors

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was "relieved" that Stephen Curry has sustained a quad injury rather than a more serious problem.

The Warriors, who are now 10-10 for the season, went down 104-100 to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

Their frustration was compounded, however, when Curry hobbled off in the final minute, with the team confirming their talisman had suffered a right quad contusion.

While Curry needs to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the issue, Kerr was initially upbeat.

"When I heard it was a quad, I was actually relieved," Kerr said.

"[It's] better than an ankle or a knee.

"If Steph has to miss [time], it obviously changes everything, our rotations, how we're playing, who we are playing through. We'll see."

Curry's injury was not the only concern that came out of the loss, though, with Draymond Green hitting out at the Warriors' defense.

"Our defense is s***," Green said.

"It's not necessarily the numbers. How do you feel when you out there? It's just letdown after letdown. It's bigger than the numbers.

"Defense is about demeanour. If there's letdown, it kills your demeanour, it kills your bravado. Then you're just a soft team.

"We are individually – I know everyone likes to twist words – we are individually f****** awful."

Jimmy Butler, meanwhile, suggested the Warriors will now need to be "perfect" if Curry is missing.

"We're going to have to be damn near perfect [without Curry]," Butler said.

"We aren't going to have the ultimate bailout on our team."
