Free agent running back Kareem Hunt didn't sign with the New Orleans Saints after all.

Hunt reportedly had a "great visit" with the Saints, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, but is now off to visit the Indianapolis Colts.

Earlier Tuesday, Dianna Russini of ESPN reported that Hunt and linebacker Anthony Barr were going to sign with the Saints, pending the former Pro Bowlers passed their physicals.

Hours later, Hunt reportedly left New Orleans without signing and will meet with the Colts on Wednesday. He was reportedly offered more money from Indianapolis.

Hunt, 28, spent the past four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, playing in all 17 games last year as Nick Chubb's backup, rushing for 468 yards and three touchdowns on 123 carries for an average of 3.8 yards per attempt.

A third-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, Hunt earned Pro Bowl honours and was named the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year, amassing career highs of 1,327 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns with 53 receptions for 455 receiving yards in his first year.

The Saints are looking to find a suitable replacement for Alvin Kamara after the five-time Pro Bowl running back was suspended for the season's first three games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Jamaal Williams and rookie Kendre Miller are in the mix to get the start in New Orleans' season opener against the Tennessee Titans on September 10.

The Colts, meanwhile, are also short on running backs.

Zack Moss suffered a broken bone in the first week of training camp and his availability for the Colts' Week 1 opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 10 is in question.

Moss had been working as the Colts' No. 1 running back in training camp with Jonathan Taylor rehabbing from offseason ankle surgery. He is also seeking a contract extension or a trade.

Barr also reportedly left New Orleans without signing.

The 31-year-old Barr played in 14 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022, registering 58 total tackles and a sack, after spending his first eight pro seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

A first-round pick by the Vikings in 2014, Barr has been selected to four Pro Bowls - most recently in 2018.
