Inter have announced the signing of midfielder Curtis Jones from Liverpool.

Jones has signed a five-year deal with the Serie A champions after a reported €30m (£25.7m) fee was agreed with Liverpool, where he progressed through the youth ranks.

The 25-year-old made 228 appearances for the Reds, making his debut in 2018-19 under Jurgen Klopp, scoring 22 goals and providing 22 assists for the club overall.

Jones featured 49 times under Arne Slot last season, but only 28 of those appearances came as a starter, leading him to seek a move away for more gametime.

He is the third English player to join Cristian Chivu's Inter this summer, with John Stones and Djed Spence also making the move to San Siro.

"I haven't spoken to them yet, but the fact that players like Stones and Spence have arrived at Inter shows the quality of this team," Jones told the club's website.

"Inter has an incredible history, plus the team fits together perfectly, they have a great coach and excellent staff. These are all things a player appreciates, it shows the value of this team.

"I'm proud to be one of these [English] players. What really matters is the team and its fans: I'm proud to be part of a club like this; history speaks clearly.

"Just look around: the names written on the walls and the trophies here behind me need no explanation.

"I come from Liverpool and I've always been used to feeling the love and support of the fans; I've always felt this strong connection. I hope I can create a special bond with Inter's fans too."

Inter begin their Serie A title defence on Saturday at home against Monza, which will come too soon for Jones.

He could make his debut on August 30, when Inter travel to face Cagliari.
