James focused on next season as retirement thoughts are put to one side
LeBron James knows the end of his career is approaching, but he is not yet considering retirement.
The Los Angeles Lakers' star has completed 22 seasons in the NBA, though the end of his last campaign was hindered by a troublesome knee injury.
However, James is now readying himself on being 100% fit for the Lakers' training camp in September.
And though he acknowledged thoughts of retirement do sometimes surface, he is not dwelling on his career coming to an end.
"I have a lot of time to take care of my injury, my knee, the rest of my body and make sure I'm as close to 100% as possible when training camp begins in late September," the 40-year-old told the Associated Press, as quoted by ESPN.
"At this point of my career, you think about when the end is. That's human nature.
ALL NBA at 40!! Low key crazy to me right now! Sitting here watching the playoffs just thinking about it. Blessed beyond I can even imagine.

"You think, is it this year? Or next year? Those thoughts always creep into your mind at this point of the journey.
"But I have not given it a specific timetable, date. I'm seeing how my body and family react too."
The Lakers finished third in the Western Conference this season, before losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs.
