Jalen Hurts to start after clearing concussion protocol
The Philadelphia Eagles will get their starting quarterback back just in time for the playoffs.
Jalen Hurts cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol on Friday, allowing him to return for the Eagles’ wild-card round play-off game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Hurts suffered a concussion early in Philadelphia’s Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders and missed the last two games of the regular season.
The two-time Pro Bowl selection was a full participant in Thursday’s practice after being limited in sessions earlier in the week, indicating he was likely to be cleared ahead of Sunday’s game.

Hurts’ return should give a massive boost to the Eagles, who earned the No. 2 seed in the NFC after a 14-3 regular season.
Hurts has had a bounce-back 2024 campaign after committing 20 turnovers last season.
The former second-round pick completed a career-high 68.7 percent of his passes for 2,903 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions this season. Hurts added 630 yards on the ground and 14 rushing touchdowns.
The Eagles’ offence has flourished after the offseason addition of running back Saquon Barkley, who was announced as a First Team All-Pro selection earlier on Friday.
Philadelphia finished the season second in rushing at 179.3 yards per game – thanks to Hurts’ duel-threat ability and Barkley’s 2,005-yard season – and the running game will likely be a key area for Sunday’s play-off game against the Packers.
Green Bay allowed 3.96 yards per carry this season, the third-stingiest mark in the league.
The Eagles and Packers kicked off the 2024 NFL season with a matchup in São Paulo, Brazil, in Week 1, with Philadelphia claiming a 34-29 victory.
