'It's still a lot to even wrap my head around' – Gilgeous-Alexander equals Chamberlain record
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled to "wrap my head around" equalling Wilt Chamberlain's record for most consecutive 20-point games in NBA history.
The Oklahoma City Thunder star scored 35 points in their win over Western Conference rivals the Denver Nuggets, with Gilgeous-Alexander also scoring the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds remaining.
It marked his 126th consecutive game with at least 20 points, matching the record Chamberlain set between 1961 and 1963.
Gilgeous-Alexander also recorded 15 assists with no turnovers in the victory, with the reigning MVP just the second player to record 35+ points and 15+ assists with no turnovers in a game after LeBron James in March 2018.
Chamberlain's record seemed untouchable, but Gilgeous-Alexander could make it his own when they face the Boston Celtics on Thursday.
"It's still a lot to even wrap my head around," Gilgeous-Alexander said.

"To be honest with you, I try not to even think about it, especially during the season. So much is going on.
"So many things have to go right for you to get what you ultimately want. That gets 100% of my focus, especially basketball-wise.
"But obviously, being in a conversation with a guy like that, it's special. It's crazy to think that, [considering] where I was 10 years ago, I'd be here today."
Another MVP candidate in Nikola Jokic finished the game with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists for Denver.
He recorded his 323rd game with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most such performances in the NBA in the last 65 years.
Despite his own impressive feat, Jokic was full of praise for Gilgeous-Alexander.
"I don't know that people know how hard it is to do that," Jokic said. "To make 20 points in 10 [straight] games, not 120 whatever it is, it's special. He's a special player."
