Andoni Iraola insists he has not made a decision over his next club and is in no rush to do so, having announced he will leave Bournemouth at the end of the season.

Iraola confirmed on Tuesday that he will leave the Vitality Stadium when his contract expires in June, bringing an end to a hugely successful three-year stint on the south coast.

Having replaced Gary O'Neil in June 2023, Iraola oversaw a 12th-placed Premier League finish in his first campaign at the helm, with the Cherries then rising to ninth in 2024-25 – their highest-ever top-flight finish. They are currently 11th but only three points off the top six.

The Spaniard has overseen 38 wins, 35 draws and 35 defeats in 108 Premier League games at the helm, with his 35% win rate being the highest of any Bournemouth manager in the competition (O'Neil and Eddie Howe both 29%, Scott Parker 25%).

The Cherries have also scored 1.48 goals per Premier League game under Iraola and conceded 1.5, with those figures both being the club's best under any manager.

Iraola has been linked with several clubs, including a return to Athletic Bilbao or a move to another Premier League side such as Manchester United, but he has not decided anything yet.

"The decision was not about any other club, there was no other club involved. It was about either continuing here or not continuing here," Iraola said ahead of Saturday's trip to Newcastle United.

"I don't know what I want to do next season. I don't know if I am going to coach a team, a club. I don't know if I am going to coach an international team. I don't know if I am going to coach in this continent. I have no idea what is going to happen.

"I don't know if you are going to believe me, but it is the truth. And also, I don't have any rush to want to know it.

"I have taken a big decision for me, now I want to focus on what we have in this moment. These next six games are massive for us. There is going to be time to think."

Asked how difficult it was to step away, Iraola said: "In the end, this is football.

"I have had other decisions that were more important in terms of my life, but it is true that this is a decision that cost me a lot, and I have had moments thinking one thing and at other moments thinking the other thing.

"But there is a moment, you know? I was talking with the club all season and we have been very open, and I think it definitely hasn't been a surprise for them.

"I think they are very well prepared for this situation, but it has been difficult, yes."

Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League matches, their longest-ever such run in the competition. The last team outside of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City to have a longer run without losing were Newcastle in 2022-23 (17).
