Nico Gonzalez says he has no intention of leaving Manchester City this summer, despite a lot of speculation over his future.

Nico joined City in February 2025 on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Porto and has since made 58 appearances for the club.

Last season he featured 41 times, with 28 of those appearances coming from the start, though he seemed to fall out of favour under Pep Guardiola in the second half of 2025-26.

City are said to be looking to have a revamp in midfield, with Nico among the names expected to attract interest along with Tijjani Reijnders and Mateo Kovacic.

Rodri could also leave this transfer window, with reports on Thursday suggesting he has said he would like to join Barcelona.

The World Cup winner is going into the final year of his contract, with Real Madrid and Barca both interested in his signature, but Rodri is said to have given the green light to the LaLiga champions to begin negotiations with City.

While Kovacic has already said he would be happy to stay at City this term, Nico also committed his future to the club.

"I'm happy here," he told reporters. "I don't want to leave, and I think the club wants me to stay.

"I haven't seen anything, but I'm happy here.

"I don't think any player has the position guaranteed for all the matches. Everyone has to work hard. We are one of the best teams in the world, and obviously, there is competition in every position.

"That is what makes us be in the position that we are, winning so many Premier Leagues and competing for everything."

Nico racked up 2,582 minutes of game time in 2025-26 but struggled to find a way into the team after January, with Rodri preferred in the centre of midfield.

He was left out of the FA Cup final win, but Nico said he had no issue with his game time, instead focusing on when he did play, including netting the winner in the semi-final against Bournemouth.

"I don't think it was difficult for me," Nico added. "When I play, I think I do a really good job.

"A good example was the semi-final of the FA Cup when I did a good match. Every chance I got, I tried my best.

"The final of the FA Cup, I was out, but we won, so it was an amazing day for me. If we win, I'm happy. My dream is to win trophies.

"If I don't play any matches, and we win the Champions League next year, I will be so happy."
