Hasan's five-wicket haul gives Pakistan winning start against Bangladesh
Hasan Ali helped ensure a winning start for Pakistan's new white-ball head coach Mike Hesson after a 37-run win over Bangladesh in the first match of their T20 series.
Pakistan captain Salman Agha laid the foundations for the victory with a career-best knock of 56 from 34 deliveries on Wednesday, before Hasan starred with the ball.
Hasan took his maiden five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5-30, giving Pakistan a 1-0 series lead heading into their second match, which takes place this Friday.
The hosts, however, started poorly, finding themselves down to 5-2 early on following the loss of openers Saim Ayub, for a duck, and Fakhar Zaman (one) in the first two overs.
Mohammad Haris was able to steady the ship alongside Agha, plundering 31 runs in 18 deliveries, and was then backed up by the middle order.
All-rounder Shadab Khan scored a 25-ball 48 to help Pakistan add 58 in the last five overs, giving Bangladesh a total of 202 runs to chase for the win.
Despite Tanzid Tamim opening Bangladesh's account with a huge six, he was then bowled out by Ali, who had already dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon in the second over.
After removing the Bangladesh openers with the new ball, Ali returned to dismiss the dangerous Jaker Ali (36), Tanzim Hasan (one) and Shoriful Islam (five).
Litton Das top-scored for Bangladesh with 48 and Jaker hit 36 off 21 balls lower down the order, but it was not enough to stop Pakistan from taking the lead of the series.

Data Debrief: Hasan hands Pakistan dream start
Pakistan have won only one of their last five multi-game bilateral men's T20I series (L4) – a 2-1 victory against Zimbabwe in December 2024, but they made a solid start here.
And it was led by Ali's impressive display. His bowling figures are his best in T20I, overtaking the 4-18 he managed against Zimbabwe in Harare back in 2021.
He is also the fourth bowler from Pakistan to take five wickets in this format, joining Sufiyan Muqeem (two), Umar Gul and Imad Wasim.
