Erling Haaland is no stranger to breaking Premier League records.

In his very first campaign in the competition, in 2022-23, he shattered the single-season goal record previously held jointly by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer, by netting 36 times.

And now, Manchester City's talisman has etched his name into the history books once more.

With his early strike against Fulham on Tuesday, Haaland reached 100 Premier League goals.

And he has achieved that figure in record time, only requiring 111 appearances to get into three figures. Haaland is the 35th player to join the competition's 100 club.

Alan Shearer, the Premier League's all-time leading scorer with 260 goals in the competition, needed 124 games to reach that mark.

Here, we dive into the Opta insights surrounding Haaland's remarkable scoring rate, detailing how he reached his century and asking what records could be next for the City star.

How Haaland reached his century

It was a remarkable match in which Haaland hit the milestone. He opened the scoring at Craven Cottage, with City going 3-0 up, and then 5-1 up, before Fulham almost managed the comeback of all comebacks.

However, how did Haaland get to the brink of his century in the first place?

Haaland's first competitive outing for City was a struggle, as he squandered several good chances in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in the 2022 Community Shield.

But the former Borussia Dortmund man took to the Premier League like a duck to water.

A brace on his competition debut against West Ham kick-started a run of nine goals in his first five games, the most ever scored by a player at that stage of their Premier League career (Sergio Aguero and Mick Quinn both scored eight in their first five matches).

By October 2, 2022, Haaland already had three Premier League hat-tricks under his belt – all of which came in successive home games.

Arsenal pushed City close for the title in 2022-23, but Haaland struck in home and away victories over the Gunners to see off their challenge, and his goal in the 4-1 win at the Etihad Stadium in April secured the single-season goal record for a 38-game campaign (33).

Just one week later, Haaland had the all-time record, with his 35th goal of the campaign coming against the same opponents as his first – West Ham.

In Haaland's debut Premier League campaign, he overperformed his expected goals (xG) figures by 7.5 and averaged a goal every 77 minutes

Haaland's 2023-24 campaign did not quite hit the same heights, partly due to the Norwegian missing seven games due to injury in the winter.

However, he did help City retain their title, while also retaining the Golden Boot, this time with 27 goals in 31 matches. Haaland underperformed his xG figures by 2.3 in his second season, though his shooting accuracy went up (to 60.2% from 56%).

Haaland missed out on the Golden Boot for the first time in 2024-25, as Mohamed Salah topped the charts for both goals and assists in Liverpool's title-winning campaign, though his efficiency went back up as he performed exactly in line with his xG figures.

In the form of his life?

For as brilliant as Haaland's 2022-23 season was, the current campaign may just prove to be his best yet.

Haaland has scored 15 goals in 14 Premier League appearances in 2025-26, overperforming his 13.7 xG total and averaging a goal every 81 minutes.

He has recorded a shot conversion rate of 26.8%, while he also leads all players in the Premier League for shots (56) and shots on target (31).

To put his displays this season into context, he has scored more league goals than Wolves (seven), Leeds United (13) and Nottingham Forest (13), while netting as many as Everton, Burnley and West Ham (all 15).

His tally of shots on target is only seven fewer than Sunderland (38) have managed as a team.

All-time goal record next up?

When Haaland signed a blockbuster new contract with City last year, tying him to the club until 2034, Shearer must have been forlorn.

Should Haaland stay in England for anywhere near that length of time, the Newcastle United legend's all-time Premier League goal record is in huge danger.

Shearer's 260 Premier League goals came in 441 outings for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle.

The former England international found the net once every 146 minutes, on average, in the competition. Haaland does so once every 92 minutes.

Shearer played 14 seasons in the Premier League, passing the 30-goal mark in just three of those.

Haaland has already done so once and, in only his fourth campaign, is well on his way to doing so for a second time.
