Gauff avoids upset with comeback victory over Cocciaretto in Miami
Coco Gauff came from behind to overcome a stern test against Elisabetta Cocciaretto to reach the third round at the Miami Open.
Gauff had to dig in, but avoided a scare by getting over the line with a 3-6 6-4 6-3 victory in two hours and 16 minutes on a rain-soaked day in Florida.
Cocciaretto started brightly and held off two break points from Gauff early on before a four-game winning streak swung momentum in her favour.
The Italian needed three set points before taking the first, but a spirited Gauff's fightback stalled slightly as Cocciaretto immediately cancelled out her break early on in the second.
The American kept her composure, though, reeling off three games in a row and serving out the set to force a decider.
Cocciaretto threatened an upset when she took a 2-0 lead in the third, but Gauff wrestled back control by winning the next four games.
And it went down to the wire before the world number four eventually converted her third break point to make it through to the next round.

Jasmine Paolini followed a similar pattern. After being pegged back by Taylor Townsend, the Italian eventually triumphed 6-3 1-6 6-2.
And Victoria Mboko's recent good form continued with a straight-sets victory, brushing aside Anna Blinkova 6-2 6-0 in just 63 minutes.
