Leylah Fernandez will face Diana Shnaider in the Pan Pacific Open final.

Fernandez, who reached the Ningbo Open final last week but lost to Elena Rybakina, overcame Kamilla Rakhimova 7-5 6-3.

The 2021 US Open runner-up has been in fine form on the Asian swing. She triumphed in Singapore in September, and followed that up with her impressive run in China.

Fernandez was handed a walkover in the quarter-finals in Tokyo when world number one Rybakina pulled out due to injury.

Shnaider, meanwhile, beat teenager Mia Pohankova 6-4 7-6 (9-7).

"It's never easy on this stage, one step away from the final," Shnaider said.

"She's definitely a special talent at 18 years old. For sure a big future ahead of her. But yeah, very happy to be in the first final of my season and definitely special to achieve it here."

Fernandez targets title number seven after getting Rakhimova

Fernandez is in the hunt for her seventh WTA Tour-level crown, but to reach the final, she had to beat a player who had recently got the better of her.

The Canadian holds a 14-3 record across the Asian swing, while she has won 16 of her last 20 matches.

However, one of those defeats came against Rakhimova in Beijing, so Fernandez was thrilled to get her revenge.

"She beat me three weeks ago," Fernandez said.

"She played an incredible match then, and she still played an incredible match now. So I'm just happy with the way that I stayed composed, at least for the most part, and of course used the energy from the crowd to help me."

All three of Fernandez's final appearances in 2026 have come within the last two months.
