F1 sprint race returns to Silverstone for 2026 calendar
Formula One and the FIA have announced the six circuits that will host a sprint race in the 2026 calendar.
The sprint event will take place in the same format, with sprint qualifying on the Friday after the first practice session before the sprint itself takes place ahead of Grand Prix qualifying on the following day.
The format will return to Silverstone for the first time since the inaugural event in 2021, while both Shanghai (China) and Miami (USA) will host the event for the third consecutive year.
Montreal (Canada), Zandvoort (Netherlands) and Singapore will all host their first sprint weekend in 2026.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “The F1 sprint has continued to grow in positive impact and popularity since it was introduced in 2021.
“With four competitive sessions rather than two during a conventional Grand Prix weekend, F1 sprint events offer more action each day for our fans, broadcast partners, and for the promoters - driving increased attendance and viewership.
"The 2026 season will usher in a new era of regulations, so having three new Sprint venues will only add to the drama on track."
