Jack Draper has withdrawn from the Monte-Carlo Masters as a precautionary measure, as he looks to continue rebuilding his fitness following his return from injury.

The 24-year-old was out for six months with an arm injury before making his ATP return at the Dubai Tennis Championships in February, beating Quentin Halys before losing to Arthur Rinderknech in three sets.

Draper then reached the last eight at Indian Wells, defeating Novak Djokovic in the last 16, though he then lost in straight sets to Daniil Medvedev.

A first-round exit in Miami saw Draper drop to 25th in the ATP rankings; he was fourth and British number one prior to suffering his injury last August at the US Open.

The Monte-Carlo Masters marks the beginning of the European clay court swing, with tournaments in Madrid and Rome then preceding the French Open.

Draper joins Djokovic and Taylor Fritz as notable withdrawals from Monte Carlo, though it remains unclear whether the Brit will feature in Madrid or Rome.
