Jack Draper retired during his first-round match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry at the Barcelona Open with a knee injury.

The 24-year-old was 4-6 6-3 4-1 down before withdrawing from the match, while he also received treatment at the end of the second set.

This was Draper's first match of the European clay swing and his first overall since losing to Reilly Opelka at last month's Miami Open.

The British number two was out for six months from last year's US Open due to an arm injury, making his return at the Dubai Tennis Championships in February.

Draper has won just four of his eight matches since returning, including a victory over Novak Djokovic as the Brit reached the last eight at Indian Wells, a title he won in 2025.

He is next scheduled to feature at the Madrid Open, an ATP Masters 1000 event, where he reached the final last year before losing in three sets to Casper Ruud.
