Gabriel Gudmundsson insists he is happy at Leeds United amid reported interest from Chelsea after a strong first season at Elland Road.

Gudmundsson joined Leeds from Ligue 1 side Lille last summer for a reported £10.4m (€12m) transfer fee and proved to be an important player under Daniel Farke in 2025-26.

He started 34 of his 35 matches for Leeds in all competitions last season, while only Anton Stach (49) and Sean Longstaff (32) had more successful crosses than his 28.

The Sweden international, who was part of his nation's World Cup squad, also ranked third within Leeds' team for tackles won (46) and duels won (195).

Gudmundsson's impressive start to life in England has seen him linked with a move away from Leeds, with Chelsea credited with an interest in the 27-year-old full-back.

Chelsea are in the market for a left-back after allowing Marc Cucurella to join Real Madrid in a reported €55m (£47.5m) deal, which could rise as high as €60m (£51.8m).

However, Gudmundsson said interest from Xabi Alonso's side was merely a sign he was playing well, though he did not completely rule out a move to Stamford Bridge.

"I haven't had a focus on it," Gudmundsson said of rumours linking him with a move away from Elland Road, as quoted by Sport Witness.

"Because there has been so much with Leeds, the World Cup, and then I have become a father now, so I have really zoned out from that part of football.

"But it's nice that they see me as an alternative, and it's a sign that something good has been done. Then we'll see what happens, but I'm happy where I am."

Gudmundsson played a big role in helping Leeds finish 14th in the Premier League last season, and he revealed the supporters had a huge role in their success on the pitch.

"Everything is so professional," Gudmundsson added.

"We have enjoyed ourselves since the first second we got there, so we are very happy with the choice and are looking forward to what is to come.

"Hand on heart, I can say that the Leeds fans are the best in England, and they have supported us in a really good way this season.

"I don't think you understand how big the club is until you are in it."

Leeds enjoyed their best Premier League season in terms of finishing position since ending the 2020-21 campaign in ninth, and they have been busy this summer to try and build on the solid foundations they laid.

Harry Wilson has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Leeds following his exit from Fulham.

Wilson was directly involved in 17 Premier League goals in 2025-26 (10 goals, seven assists), the most of any Fulham in a single top-flight campaign since Dimitar Berbatov in 2012-13 (18).

Leeds begin their Premier League campaign away to Nottingham Forest on August 22 before returning to Elland Road eight days later to take on Brentford.
