Khadija Shaw scored twice to complete a superb comeback from Manchester City in a 3-2 win over Chelsea and book their FA Cup final place after extra time.

Chelsea had looked set to cruise into the showpiece, but the holders were undone late in regulation time before Shaw put the icing on the cake in the 103rd minute.

After a bright Chelsea start, Erin Cuthbert broke the deadlock just eight minutes in; City got caught playing out from the back, and the Scottish international raced onto the loose ball to fizz a low shot into the bottom-left corner.

Chelsea could have had a second shortly after as Sam Kerr bundled over the line with her thigh, but it was disallowed. It was deemed that Ellie Carpenter took the ball out of play, though replays showed it did not fully cross the line.

The Blues were back on top after the break as Sjoeke Nusken had an effort cleared off the line before Kerr punished a lapse from Khiara Keating, who let a James cross slip through her hands and straight onto the Australian's head 59 minutes in.

Ten minutes later, Kerr had the ball in the back of the net for a third time, but she set off too early to head in Cuthbert's cross, and the flag denied her.

But City fought their way back into the match in the 86th minute, with Mary Fowler initially forced wide, though she recovered to bend a lovely strike into the bottom-left corner.

And Shaw forced extra time in the first of seven added minutes; with her back to goal, she brilliantly spun to nestle her low effort past Hampton, and after wasting some good chances early in the additional 30 minutes, Shaw rose high to nod in Yui Hasegawa's cross after the Japan international had pounced on Hampton's loose pass.

Chelsea almost forced penalties in the final five minutes, but Keating made up for her earlier error with a stunning save to tip Nusken's header onto the crossbar.

City will face Brighton in the FA Cup final on May 31 after they came from behind to beat Liverpool 3-2 thanks to Nadine Noordam's 95th-minute winner.

Data Debrief: Shaw proves her worth

A lot of the pre-match talk was based around Shaw's future, with Chelsea apparently the front-runners if the Jamaican does indeed leave when her contract runs out at the end of the season.

She was incredibly impressive against Chelsea, finishing the match with 10 shots, scoring with both on target, while she also had a game-leading 15 touches in the opposition box.

Sonia Bompastor will be wondering how their title defence slipped out of their hands so quickly, especially with Chelsea having 27 shots worth 3.14 expected goals (xG) to City's 18 attempts (1.37 xG).

Kerr could have had a hat-trick if not for the finest margins, but she has now scored in every round of the FA Cup she has played in this season.
