Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers played out a goalless draw in the Championship, inching the hosts further clear of danger but denying the visitors a chance to close in on the play-off spots.

Both teams missed opportunities to take all three points; Charlton's best opening fell to Conor Coady in the first half, while Rayan Kolli almost won it in second-half stoppage time for QPR.

Charlton were the better side throughout the first half, with QPR failing to register a shot on target before the interval.

But Coady – a recent loan addition from Wrexham – saw his shot from eight yards out smothered by Joe Walsh, who recovered brilliantly after appearing to be beaten.

Walsh made another good stop to deny Lyndon Dykes early in the second half, with the Scot unable to profit from the rebound, though QPR came on strong in the closing stages.

Steve Cook headed over from near the penalty spot and Kolli forced a superb save from Thomas Kaminski, while Dykes also had to hack Jimmy Dunne's deflected header off the line to preserve a point for Charlton.

Data Debrief: Charlton's scoring run over, another stalemate for QPR

Ahead of Friday's match, Charlton had only failed to score in one of their last 24 home league games, netting in 11 in a row since a 1-0 defeat to Leicester in August.

But they were unable to find a way through here, having attempted 16 shots with an expected goals (xG) value of 1.11, compared to QPR's 18 and 0.71 xG. 

Charlton are now four points clear of the relegation zone in 17th, while QPR are three adrift of sixth-placed Wrexham, having seen their last three away games finish goalless.
