West Bromwich Albion claimed their first Championship win of 2026, beating promotion-chasing Hull City 3-0 to climb out of the relegation zone.

James Morrison's side ended a run of 13 league games without victory to move up to 21st in the table with eight games remaining.

The Baggies took a first-half lead through Josh Maja, before fifth-place Hull were reduced to 10 men when Charlie Hughes was dismissed for a last-man foul on Jed Wallace.

West Brom capitalised on their numerical advantage after the break with Aune Heggebo doubling their lead, before Isaac Price wrapped up victory in stoppage time.

They subsequently leapfrogged Oxford United and Leicester City, with the latter's relegation fears deepening after a 3-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

The Foxes ended a run of 11 winless games in midweek, and built on that momentum with Jordan James giving them a 14th-minute lead at King Power Stadium.

However, Harvey Vale equalised just before the break, while the turnaround was completed by Ben Nelson's own-goal early in the second half, before a Ronnie Edwards header ended the Hoops' four-match losing streak.

Following second-place Middlesbrough's draw with Bristol City earlier on Saturday, 10-man Millwall missed the chance to climb into the automatic promotion places after a 2-1 defeat to struggling Blackburn Rovers.

The Lions appeared on course for a fifth straight win when Luke Cundle scored a superb overhead kick early in the second half, though a Zak Sturge red card soon after turned the contest on its head.

Blackburn, who were without a win in four, made the most of having an extra man, with Mathias Jorgensen scoring twice in the last 10 minutes to move them three points clear of the relegation zone.

Millwall's slip-up allowed Ipswich Town to leapfrog them to third place – with a game in hand on Middlesbrough – after a 2-0 win over relegated Sheffield Wednesday.

The Championship's bottom side held their own until the final 12 minutes at Hillsborough, when Kieran McKenna's side struck twice in quick succession.

First, Ivan Azon broke the deadlock from Ben Johnson's cross and, five minutes later, Jack Clarke scored his 13th goal of the season from the penalty spot to seal the triumph.

Data Debrief: A timely perfect 10 for the Baggies

West Brom ended their winless run while also extending their unbeaten home streak against Hull to 10 league matches.

Leicester, meanwhile, have now lost each of their last six home league games against London opposition, though Blackburn have won six of their last nine away league matches in the English capital.

As for Ipswich, Clarke continues to shine, with their top scorer now having been directly involved in five goals in his last five league appearances against the Owls.
