James Harden added 19 points, including a pair of key free throws late in overtime. Evan Mobley had 18 and 10 rebounds for the Cavs, who improved to 2-0 at home this season.

Second-round pick Meleek Thomas scored 16 in his NBA debut for Cleveland.

Jaden McDaniels had 14 points before he fouled out. Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 14 off the bench.

Harden’s two free throws with 13 seconds remaining put Cleveland up 125-122. Sam Merrill fouled LaMelo Ball with 9.2 seconds remaining, but Ball missed both free throws. Edwards got the rebound and missed a wide-open 3-pointer from the top of the key, as the Timberwolves lost their first game of the season.

Lendeborg shines as Warriors end skid

Yaxel Lendeborg had 31 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, as the Golden State Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets 134-114 for their first win of the season.

The rookie out of Michigan was 9 of 19 from the field and 12 of 13 from the free throw line. He entered the game averaging 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds.

Stephen Curry scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half. He finished 8 of 8 from the floor to help the Warriors steadily pull away from the Nuggets, who allowed 74 points after the half-time break.

Brandin Podziemski added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Nikola Jokić had 19 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists for the Nuggets, who fell to 1-2.

As the Nuggets’ deficit grew, the frustration spilt over for Aaron Gordon in the fourth quarter when he was assessed a double-technical and exited the court. Gordon had seven points.

Caruso injured in Thunder’s win

The injury woes got even worse for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday when guard Alex Caruso was helped off the court with a sprained ankle, adding his name to a rapidly growing injury report.

The Thunder won the game 125-114 over the Phoenix Suns.

Caruso scored nine points in nine minutes before his injury.

The extent of Caruso’s injury has not been made public, but it comes just one day after Oklahoma City lost starters Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace to long-term injuries.

Williams suffered a grisly injury on Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers and will undergo surgery for a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula.  Wallace will undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Chet Holmgren also sat out Monday due to right knee injury management but is expected back in the line-up soon.
