Jaidon Anthony's second-half equaliser earned Burnley a 2-2 draw and denied Darren Fletcher a first win as Manchester United interim head coach.

The home side made a strong start and got their rewards with an early goal, with Bashir Humphreys' cross deflecting off Ayden Heaven and looping into the far corner.

United began to dominate after conceding, with Humphreys and Maxime Esteve making strong clearances on the line to deny Mathues Cunha and Patrick Dorgu respectively, while Martin Dubravka thwarted Benjamin Sesko with a stunning save.

Lisandro Martinez also had a goal disallowed for a foul on Kyle Walker, but United's equaliser would arrive in the 50th minute as Sesko hammered home after collecting a pass from the returning Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes then smacked the post with a shot at goal, with Heaven also heading wide from point-blank range as the visitors turned the screw and started to create chances at will.

The second goal arrived as Sesko scored again on the hour mark, guiding a beautiful finish into the far corner following fine work down the left from Dorgu, but it was not enough for the three points.

Anthony equalised against the run of play with a wonderful curling effort, leaving United keeper Senne Lammens with no chance, and despite teenager Shea Lacey smacking an effort against the bar inside the last 10 minutes, Scott Parker's men held on for the point.

Data Debrief: Fernandes shines on return but United draw yet again

United may be left to rue this run of form at the end of the season, as yet another draw, a third in succession in the league for the first time since December 2018, leaves them with an uphill task in terms of Champions League qualification next season.

Fernandes had been out of action for the last three matches due to injury, but he was straight back in the side and made a telling impact as he set up Sesko to score and went close with an effort himself.

He has now supplied more assists than any other player in the Premier League this season (eight), and has only provided more in two other campaigns, 2020-21 (12) and 2024-25 (10).

Burnley came away with a spirited draw, but they are now winless in 12 matches, equalling their worst run in the Premier League since 2009-10, with the Clarets going down at the end of that campaign.
