Brentford 2-0 Nottingham Forest: Bees end winless run and pile pressure on Glasner
Brentford returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Gtech Community Stadium, ending a three-match wait for maximum points.
Nikola Milenkovic's unfortunate own goal handed the hosts the lead before Igor Thiago wrapped up the points late on, with only his second league goal of the campaign.
It was a relatively subdued opening, with Mamadou Sangare and Thiago both threatening for the Bees either side of a Liam Delap effort that sailed well over the crossbar.
The deadlock was broken on the half-hour mark when Milenkovic was caught out by Dango Ouattara's low delivery, with the defender unable to evade the cross as the ball looped off him, beyond the despairing Matz Sels, and into the net.
James McAtee attempted to inspire a response from the visitors and came close to doing so, cutting inside before seeing a well-struck effort flash wide of the target.
Keith Andrews' side then came within inches of doubling their advantage before the interval, as Mathias Jensen's superb free-kick cannoned back off the crossbar.
The Tricky Trees emerged from the break with more energy and looked to raise the tempo after substitutes Ryan Yates and Daniel Munoz entered the contest. Yates nearly made an instant impact when he met Morgan Gibbs-White's excellent delivery, but his diving header drifted over the crossbar.
Gibbs-White was involved again moments later, meeting a corner at the far post and directing a header back across goal, only for Thiago to be on hand to do his defensive duties.
Forest's pressure eventually began to subside, though, and Brentford capitalised to make the result safe.
In the 76th minute, substitute Jaidon Anthony produced an excellent run down the right before picking out Thiago, who bundled home via another unfortunate deflection off Milenkovic.

Forest failing to fire
Questions are beginning to surround Oliver Glasner, who has managed just one win from his opening nine Premier League matches in charge of Nottingham Forest.
Another scoreless outing only served to highlight Forest's biggest issue this season: a lack of cutting edge in front of goal.
No side has scored fewer Premier League goals than the Tricky Trees in 2026-27, with Forest finding the net just six times and failing to score in four of their last seven league matches.
That trend continued against Brentford, despite Forest registering a superior expected goals (xG) tally of 0.85, to the hosts' 0.46.
Forest have now underperformed their cumulative xG of 14.35 by 8.35 goals this season, the largest negative differential of any side in the Premier League, underlining their continued struggles when it comes to turning chances into goals.
And things will not get much easier for them next week, as they welcome Manchester City to the City Ground. Brentford, meanwhile, visit high-flying Brighton next.
