Bournemouth extended their superb winning streak to six matches across all competitions after they defeated Leeds United 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Evanilson and Amine Adli struck either side of half-time for Marco Rose's side, who after a difficult start to the season, lifted themselves up to seventh in the Premier League.

But it was Leeds who made the livelier start on the south coast, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming within inches of getting a touch on Daniel James' inviting low cross.

Calvert-Lewin thought he made amends when he bundled the ball into the net to cap a fine bit of one-touch play between Harry Wilson and James Justin, but his celebrations were cut short as the goal was disallowed after a VAR review for a handball against the England international.

The Cherries eventually showed signs of life and took an unexpected lead in the 31st minute as they capitalised on James Trafford's sloppy pass, with Justin Kluivert pinching possession before teeing up Evanilson to score.

Further half-chances fell before the break as Bournemouth grew in confidence, with Trafford awkwardly parrying Rayan's dangerous delivery before standing firm to deny the in-form Marcus Tavernier from the edge of the area.

Leeds struggled to rediscover their early rhythm in the second half, with Rayan and Tyler Adams testing Trafford's reflexes in quick succession.

The visitors' best opportunity of the half fell to Justin soon after, who could not guide Wilson's pinpoint cross on target, while substitute Lukas Nmecha saw his quickfire shot blocked strongly as the Cherries held firm.

Adli sealed the victory with the final kick of the game, controlling a delicate, incisive pass from Junior Kroupi before side-footing calmly into the bottom corner and past a helpless Trafford to seal all three points.

Rose's side make it six with super south coast showing

Bournemouth have been one of the Premier League's form teams in recent weeks, with victories over Sunderland and Manchester United, alongside triumphs against AC Milan in the Europa League and Aston Villa in the EFL Cup, underlining their impressive momentum.

Indeed, Rose's side have now won six consecutive matches across all competitions, including their last three in the Premier League without conceding, marking a run of 334 minutes without shipping a goal.

They have been equally impressive in attack, scoring in eight of their nine Premier League matches this season, with only Brentford (nine) finding the net in more games.

Evanilson has been key to their upturn in form, and the Brazilian has now scored in four consecutive Premier League matches – his longest scoring streak in the competition, registering four goals and an assist during that run.

Only Erling Haaland (nine) has been involved in more Premier League goals this season than Evanilson's eight (four goals, four assists). Remarkably, he has already surpassed his tally of seven goal involvements from 36 appearances last season (six goals, one assist).

Leeds, meanwhile, have now gone five Premier League matches without a victory – their longest winless run since a six-game stretch between February and March earlier this year.
