Bangladesh secured a 2-1 ODI series victory against West Indies after a crushing 179-run win in Mirpur.

After setting a target of 297 to win the match and the series, Bangladesh bowled the visitors out for just 117 in 30.1 overs after a clinical display with the ball in hand.

Saif Hassan (80) and Soumya Sarkar (91) put together an impressive opening stand of 176 runs that lasted 25.2 overs to get Bangladesh off to a flying start.

Hossain Shanto's 44 and a quickfire 16 off eight balls from Nurul Hasan saw the hosts build a strong first-innings total at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

West Indies' chase got off to a less-than-ideal start as Alick Athanaze (15), Brandon King (18) and Ackeem Auguste (0) were all dismissed by Nasum Ahmed (3-11) in the first powerplay.

Tanvir Islam (2-16), Rishad Hossain (3-54) and Hasan Miraz (2-35) all contributed with wickets each as they rattled through the West Indies batting order, with number 10 Akeal Hosein (27) being the only batter to pass the 20-run mark.

Data Debrief: Bangladesh close to perfect in victory

This win marked Bangladesh's first ODI series victory since March 2024, and it was a memorable one at that.

Sarkar and Saif's opening stand was the second-highest for Bangladesh in ODIs, after Litton Das and Tamim Iqbal's partnership of 292 against Zimbabwe in March 2020.

It was also the first century opening partnership at the venue in ten years, while their 14 sixes in the match were a record-equalling total for the country in the format.

Meanwhile, Hossain's three wickets took his series total to 12, seeing him become the first Bangladeshi bowler since 2015 to take more than 10 wickets in a bilateral ODI series.
