Paula Badosa had little difficulty on her Berlin Open debut after breezing past home favourite Eva Lys in straight sets.

The number eight seed needed just an hour to down world number 62 Lys, who suffered a 6-1 6-3 first-round defeat in the last match on Monday.

Emma Navarro, who is ranked ninth in the world, now awaits Badosa in a blockbuster second-round clash in Berlin.

The world number 10 set the tone early on by breaking Lys' opening service to love, before saving a single break point to take a 2-0 lead.

Lys managed to pull one back on her own serve, but then dropped her following two games with the ball in hand as Badosa snatched all three of her break points to claim the first set.

The Spaniard again broke Lys' first service game in the second but then suffered an unlikely break in response.

That proved little other than a mere consolation, however, as Badosa coasted home by converting her second match-point chance to hammer Lys.

Data Debrief: Strong-serving Badosa

Badosa was in fearsome form as she fired eight aces and impressively claimed all of her five break-point chances.

She also won a massive 81% of her points on the first serve to tee up an enticing second-round meeting with Navarro.

Badosa won her first meeting with Navarro last year on the clay courts of Rome, but the American got her revenge by beating her in the US Open quarter-final.
