Aston Villa 1-1 Leeds United: Abraham rescues hosts after stunning Stach free-kick
Tammy Abraham scored his first Premier League goal since returning to Aston Villa as Unai Emery's men rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Leeds United.
Abraham, who was on loan at Villa when they won promotion from the Championship in 2018-19, ended a wait of over five years to score in the English top-flight.
The ex-Besiktas striker used his thigh to loop the ball beyond Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the line with just two minutes of the 90 remaining, after Ezri Konsa nodded Jadon Sancho's corner down to him.
Villa had gone behind in the 31st minute, courtesy of a wonderful free-kick from Anton Stach.
The hosts were expecting a cross when Stach stood over a dead ball slightly to the left and 30 yards out, but with Emiliano Martinez leaving the near side of his goal unattended, the German caught him out with a curling effort.
Karl Darlow made an excellent double save to keep out Amadou Onana and Ollie Watkins in first-half stoppage time, while the latter was also frustrated by the offside flag when he tapped home early in the second half, after Emiliano Buendia's shot struck the post and bounced into his path.
Leeds then passed up a brilliant chance to kill the contest when Lukas Nmecha sent a diving header straight at Martinez soon after coming on, and they were made to pay by Abraham with time running out.

A missed opportunity for Aston Villa to slash the gap to those above them, even with Tammy Abraham's late leveller.

Data Debrief: Abraham ends long wait
Abraham's goal was his first in the Premier League since Boxing Day 2020, when he was on target for Chelsea in a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
It was Villa's ninth goal from a corner in the Premier League this season, with only Arsenal (14) and Tottenham (13) netting more from those situations, while Villa have now won 19 points from losing positions in 2025-26 โ the most of any team.
Leeds may be frustrated at letting two points slip out of their grasp, but their 31 Premier League points this season are already as many as they collected in their last campaign in the competition, in 2022-23.
It did not prove to be enough, but Stach's goal was worthy of winning any game, and only Antoine Semenyo (four) has bettered his three Premier League goals from outside the area this season.
All three of those goals have been free-kicks โ only Ian Harte (four in 2000-01) has scored more direct free-kick goals for Leeds in a Premier League season.
