Arsenal 2-1 Leeds United: Calafiori and Guimaraes complete comeback win
Bruno Guimaraes came off the bench to complete Arsenal's comeback as the Premier League champions got back to winning ways by beating Leeds United 2-1.
Arsenal, who lost heavily at Brighton before the international break, were second-best for the opening hour at Emirates Stadium, where James Justin put Leeds ahead.
Yet Arsenal responded in style, with Riccardo Calafiori and Guimaraes scoring in the space of eight minutes to seal the points.
Some early Arsenal pressure resulted in few clear chances, bar Bukayo Saka shooting at James Trafford from an offside position, and Leeds created the first opportunity when Anton Stach saw an attempt inadvertently blocked by team-mate Jayden Bogle.
David Raya had to scamper back to his line to keep out Ethan Ampadu's looping header, before Gabriel Gudmundsson tested Arsenal's goalkeeper from close range on the cusp of half-time.
Ao Tanaka forced Raya into action shortly after the restart, but Leeds' display was rewarded in the 55th minute, when Justin slammed in after meeting Gudmundsson's cross.
Arsenal were level seven minutes later, however, with Calafiori's somewhat tame volley proving too much for Trafford to handle.
Calafiori then fired wide as Arsenal upped the urgency, but it was Guimaraes – one of three substitutes to come on in the wake of the Gunners' equaliser – who dealt the decisive blow when he slotted home following slick build-up play from Declan Rice.
28.1% - Since his Premier League debut in February 2022, only James Maddison (9/29 - 31%) has scored a high proportion of their Premier League goals from outside the penalty area than Bruno Guimarães (9/32 - 28.1% - min. 25 goals). Ambitious. https://t.co/qtRl0XZMZY

Martin Odegaard's miss from a couple of yards out kept Leeds in contention, and Viktor Gyokeres failed to capitalise on another blunder from Trafford, but the visitors could not find a leveller to keep their unbeaten start to their league campaign going.
A tale of two halves
It was just all too pedestrian and passive from Mikel Arteta's men before the break, as Arsenal failed to score in the first half of a league game against Leeds for the first time since November 2020, and for the first time at home since January 1998.
In fact, it was just the second time since the start of last season that Arsenal had faced more shots (seven) than they had managed themselves (four) in a home league game.
Yet having created chances worth only 0.41 expected goals prior to the break, the Gunners clicked into gear once Leeds hit the front.
In the second half, Arsenal had nine shots, got five on target and registered 2.17 xG. Leeds, on the other hand, finished with 0.68 xG across the full match.
Calafiori's equaliser was the turning point, and though Trafford could have done better, the Italian has as many goal involvements in the Premier League this season (three) as he did in 26 games in the previous campaign.
Guimaraes ultimately had the final say. Nine of his last 10 league goals have either put his team ahead (seven) or have been equalisers (two). He is the big man for big moments, and having that quality to bring off the bench proved crucial here.
Leeds gave their all, and for an hour, were the better team, though the Whites remain without a win in an away league game against Arsenal since May 2003.
