Keith Andrews shot down any suggestions that Brentford have been impacted by the pressure of the European qualification race, despite their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Bees looked on course for a defeat after Adam Wharton’s first goal for Palace had put them 2-1 in front, but Dango Ouattara scored his second of the game to earn a point.

Ouattara had earlier cancelled out Ismaila Sarr’s 21st goal of the season from the penalty spot, with the Senegalese forward now matching Andy Johnson’s tally of 21 goals in 2004-05, the most by a Palace player in one campaign as a Premier League club.

Brentford occupy eighth place in the Premier League, which would be enough for Europa Conference League football next season, but they would fall to ninth if Chelsea defeated Tottenham in midweek.

Furthermore, they have won just one match out of their last nine, but Andrews believes his side are not mentally affected by the possibility of taking the club into Europe for the first time in their history.

When asked whether there was any tension amongst his players, the Irishman told BBC Sport: "I didn't feel it. The focus has been amazing, the personality we speak about playing with was there in abundance.

"We played a very well-organised team, with a wealth of attacking options, it was never going to be an easy game. Unfortunately, we didn't quite hit our levels today, especially in that first half.

"We only focus on ourselves."

Andrews lavished praise on his group for how they have competed this season, as they now prepare for the final day of the season and a trip to Anfield.

He said: "I've seen it all season, in the way we train, the habits we have day to day.

"The character is there in abundance and it will be there next weekend."

Palace boss Oliver Glasner lamented how his side were not able to increase their advantage after a dominant first half, with the Eagles failing to win in the league for a fifth successive match, while they have now lost 21 points from winning positions, the third-worst in the division.

He told Sky Sports: "The first half we had so many good situations but going in at 1-1 nobody could believe it. The first 60-65 minutes were really top.

"We were struggling at the end and Brentford using their long balls and set plays got the point. It was a very good performance today."
