Arne Slot has claimed Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson must be considered as one of the world's best.

Alisson has been a top performer for Liverpool since he joined from Roma in 2018.

He played an integral part in the Reds' success under Jurgen Klopp, and then their Premier League title win under Slot last season.

Alisson has played 22 games this season, keeping eight clean sheets, while Liverpool have improved defensively in recent weeks following their wobble earlier in the campaign.

Indeed, the Reds are on a 10-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League, though they have drawn their last four top-flight fixtures.

Slot, though, wanted to specifically praise Alisson ahead of Liverpool's trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, after the Brazilian turned in an impressive performance against Marseille in the Champions League.

"In all of the 13 games we are unbeaten, I think maybe only in the Brighton game we conceded more than one expected goals (xG)," said Slot.

"To be honest, I think against Marseille we conceded two or three more good chances than we've conceded in other games but a good thing in football is that it doesn't continue all season where the other team has one chance and it's a goal.

"Alisson had a great save. Two in the first half and another in the second half.

"We know we have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so knowing that we can not go on hardly conceding chances and conceding goals."

Alisson's numbers

Liverpool have shipped 29 goals in the Premier League this term, which is 4.8 more than would have been anticipated based on their 24.2 xGA.

While Alisson has not featured in every league match, his numbers are, however, slightly down compared to his usually high levels.

According to Opta's expected goals on target conceded (xGoT) model, Alisson has allowed 1.3 goals more than would have been anticipated based on the quality of shots he has faced. That ranks sixth-worst among Premier League shot-stoppers this season.

In fact, Alisson's save percentage is also down at 62.7%. Across his Premier League career prior to this campaign, his save percentage average was 73%.

Alisson has saved 32 of the 51 shots on target he has faced in the league this season, conceding 19 goals.
