Somerset batsman James Rew has been called up to England Men's Test squad for the upcoming Test match against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on 22 May.
Rew is replacing Essex batter Jordan Cox, who has been ruled out after sustaining an abdominal injury while playing against Somerset in the most recent round of the County Championship.
For the 21-year-old Rew, this represents his first call-up to the senior England team after an impressive season so far in the County Championship, averaging 54.21 runs and posting a high score of 152.
Rew toured Australia with the Lions last winter and was also part of the team that reached the ICC U19 World Cup final in 2022.
He is set to join up with the squad at their training camp as preparations begin for the summer programme of international cricket.
Disappointing news for Jordan Cox, who has been ruled out of our upcoming Test match against Zimbabwe.

It means a first senior call-up for Somerset’s James Rew, who replaces Cox in the squad.
Congratulations, James
