Jamie Vardy feels Leicester City let themselves down in Friday's chastening defeat to Brentford, with Ruud van Nistelrooy saying there was a chasm between the teams.
Leicester's relegation fears deepened as they were trounced 4-0 at the King Power Stadium, having been 3-0 down within 32 minutes of kick-off.
Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Fabio Carvalho all scored as Brentford climbed into the top half, with Leicester being booed off at both half-time and full-time.
Leicester have now lost six straight Premier League games on their own turf by an aggregate score of 15-0.
No team had previously lost six home games in a row without scoring in English top-flight history.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Foxes captain Vardy said: "We played really well last week and one of the things we said before the game was making sure it was a full 90-minute performance.
"It wasn't to be today and we let ourselves down. We have to keep working hard. We have put in some decent performances and we need to be doing it consistently.
"We have to get back into training, watch this back and see where it all went wrong. There is massive determination.
"There are three out of the bottom four that are all fighting for it. As long as we are in with a shout, we'll knuckle down and focus on putting in decent performances."
Brentford have now won their two games against Leicester this season by an aggregate score of 8-1, having triumphed 4-1 at home in November, when a newly-appointed Van Nistelrooy was in the stands.
"The level between us and Brentford was simply too big after the first 10 to 15 minutes," the Leicester boss told BBC Match of the Day.
"They were solid. They are in a place that we are far off and we have to acknowledge that.
"You have to recover from this. First of all, as a head coach you take responsibility. Then you rest and come back with new energy to lift the place when it's necessary.
"Tomorrow is a new day and we start again. It starts with yourself. You have to reflect and recover, and collectively we have to move on."
Brentford are now just four points adrift of seventh-placed Newcastle United, having posted back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.
Head coach Thomas Frank is daring to dream of European qualification, telling Sky Sports: "That is a big, big aim.
"We have dreams, we want to aim as high as possible, there's no doubt about that and we want to push.
"It is the first time we had back-to-back wins, we need more further down the line before we can really dream. We are in a good place and can keep pushing."
