England's most-capped player, Ben Youngs, will retire from rugby at the end of the season.

Scrum-half Youngs played in 127 Tests for his country between 2010 and 2023, scoring 20 tries.

Youngs has spent his entire club career with Leicester Tigers, becoming their youngest Premiership player as a 17-year-old in 2007 and playing 332 games for them to date.

Leicester are currently a distant second to Bath in the Premiership table, battling the Bristol Bears, Sale Sharks and Saracens for a play-off place.

Upon announcing his decision on Tuesday, Youngs told the club's website his focus is on going out on a high, saying: "It's a bittersweet feeling really.

"Obviously, I'm sad at the thought it's coming to an end but I'm excited about the rest of this season, excited about what this group can do.

"That's the strange part, I'm using the 'r' word but it isn't over today, there is still plenty of rugby left this season and that's what is at the front of my mind. I'm not done, let's not write the obituary just yet.

"I have spent two decades of my life here at the club and I have been lucky to be a part of some incredible moments along the way, enjoyed so much success and made memories that will last a lifetime."

Youngs retired from international rugby at the end of the 2023 World Cup, at which England finished third following a dramatic semi-final defeat to South Africa.
