A Leandro Trossard brace either side of the break helped Arsenal canter to a dominant 4-0 win over 10-man Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday.

In doing so, the Gunners delayed Liverpool's Premier League title celebrations until next week after cutting the leaders' advantage to 10 points.

Trossard put the Gunners ahead early on, slipping the ball past Alex Palmer, while Mikel Merino's clever backheel set Gabriel Martinelli up to extend their lead just before the half-hour mark.

Ipswich's day went from bad to worse shortly after when Leif Davis was sent off for a late challenge on Bukayo Saka, leaving the hosts with a mountain to climb.

Saka then saw a flurry of excellent chances go begging at the end of the first half, including a sublime curling effort from the right wing.

The Tractor Boys showed little spark beyond a few enthusiastic runs from Julio Enciso and George Hirst as they slumped to their seventh straight home Premier League loss of the year – matching their combined total from 2023 and 2024.

Trossard capped a very one-sided affair with a fine finish in the 69th minute, while Ethan Nwaneri's heavily deflected strike off Dara O'Shea rolled past a helpless Palmer late on.

It is a result that leaves Ipswich 18th, 15 points adrift of safety with five games left to play.

Data debrief: Ipswich Town's Portman Road pain

Ipswich Town have now lost all seven of their Premier League home games this year, equalling their longest ever home losing streak, set between September and November 1963.

The loss to Arsenal was their 20th defeat of the season, marking the third time in six seasons they have lost 20+ games in the competition (also 29 in 1994-95 and 20 in 2001-02).

Among teams to feature in five or more Premier League campaigns, only Watford (5/8, 63%), Hull City (3/5, 60%) and QPR (4/7, 57%) would have lost 20 games in a higher percentage of their campaigns than the Tractor Boys.

Indeed, it was an uninspiring performance from Kieran McKenna's side, who failed to muster a shot on target across the contest, ending with a meager expected goals (xG) value of just 0.21. Arsenal, meanwhile, overperformed their xG of 2.72 quite impressively.

Martinelli, who scored their second, notched up his 50th goal for Arsenal across all competitions.

This makes him the fourth-youngest player in the Premier League era to reach this milestone for the Gunners (23y 306d), after Bukayo Saka (22y 159d), Cesc Fabregas (23y 134d), and Theo Walcott (23y 235d).
